Brides Magazine - WPJA Contest

The other day, I was pleased to hear that one of my pictures received recognition by the Wedding Photojournalists Association judges in one of their contests — first place winners were published in an edition of Brides magazine. Placing ninth in the 'Customs and Cultures' category, the judges said they enjoyed looking at the joy in the faces of Christina & Brendan while they rang the bell at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Hartland, Vt. It is one of my favorites from 2008.

Denny currently have City Card campaign running through our racks at the moment. This card is great use of the media. It is to support their homeis.ie campaign. Denny ask that those that pick up the cards draw a doodle on the front or write a message and then pop the card in the post to them. Postage is covered by Denny and for every card received they give €1 to the Simon Community. Cards that posted back may appear on a dedicated website. Autumn, Reluctantly

I may have been trying to avoid this time of year... I dunno. Up until now, I have been able to remember last year and think "At this time last year, we had no idea how ill he was." But by October... we knew and the fight had begun; doctors, hospitals, tests, tests and more tests filled the days.

And so... since July, I have been traveling. I am not under the delusion that I can run away from my grief, I have merely been distracting my attention with the beauty of nature and far away destinations. And it's also been about moving on - I have always faced hard times by putting my head down and pushing forward; trying to get to the other side before this destroys me.

I must keep moving...

Carlsberg Light Walkers

It has been a big week for Irish Soccer as we moved a big step forward in going to South Africa next summer - we qualified for the playoffs. Our Light Walkers played our part and provided colour and cheer on both Saturday and last night for Carlsberg soccer! Bring on November.

Best/Worst?

I have been asked what was the highlight of my trip and wow! is that hard to answer. I saw so much natural beauty, so many incredible animals, met so many wonderful people - I am still in awe of South Africa. But if I had to choose just one experience, it would be the early morning walk with the lions on the Masuwe Estate near Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. We walked alongside three young males, ranging in age from 3 - 16 months... no leashes. We watched as the two in the photo above spotted a wart hog and encircled it - the warthog escaped... I don't think the lions were hungry, but were just doing what lions do. Later, we were allowed to hold the smallest cub for a few minutes. He weighed about 25 lbs and it was an amazing experience!

The level of crime in South Africa was probably the most surprising to me, even though I was expecting it somewhat. The security measures protecting virtually every home reminded me of Caracas, Venezuela when I was there in the early '90's. I know I could not live in such a constant state of fear/apprehension. I was fortunate to see South Africa through rose colored glasses, so to speak.... being on a carefully planned and guided tour, staying at the very best accommodations and generally being watched over the entire time I was there.

Would I go back? Yes! Would I recommend a tour of SA? Yes!

i-site cycle 21

It is most definitely Autumn, we are now in cycle 21 ( only 5 more before year end). Current clients on i-site are Budweiser, Jameson, Heineken Cup, Coors and Carlsberg Football. We are continually adding new sites to our network. Currently we have 792, if you would like a venue list let us know.

James Franco to Guest-Star on General Hospital

16561476

So, okay forgive me … Things have been super-busy lately, so I’ve ignored the whole Letterman scandal, and let you read it elsewhere (even though I've been following it myself like a fiend.) And I haven't dissected all the new Fall TV shows yet ... And I've neglected to chitchat about silly little gossip ... like the fact that Katie Holmes lets Suri Cruise wear heels.

But I can't let this one go... And maybe I’m a couple days late in my response here ... but, WHAT?!?!? James Franco is joining the cast of General Hospital?!?!? Yep, Franco has signed on for a two-month guest role on the highly dramatic ABC soap opera. Am I the only one here who is seriously confused? Last time I checked big stars don’t do soaps. (Small stars are supposed to hope to become big stars by doing gigs on silly soaps!) And Franco is sort of a big star. He’s gotten a lot of acclaim over the last few years for roles in Milk, Pineapple Express ... and a little movie called Spiderman! He’s also set to star in the upcoming movie sure-to-be-huge Eat, Pray, Love. So, yeah ... What?!?!

This is not the first time Franco has done things backwards. In 2008, he enrolled in classes at NYU and Columbia ... which kind of made sense. He wanted to write, act, and hone his craft. But this career choice is just weird.

So what do we think of his new gig? Is it going to ultimately help or hurt his career? As they probably asked in his University acting classes, "James, what's your motivation?"

an amazing journey

I am back at home after spending a month in South Africa.... it was an unforgettable experience and I feel so fortunate to have traveled there and to have met so many wonderful people - fellow travelers and Safricans - they all are very special to me.

Peter and Vandy

peterandvandy_onesheet

As anyone who’s ever been in love can tell you, it’s a slippery slope from “We’re head over heels in love!” to “We’re fine.” Peter and Vandy takes us through the relationship of a young New York couple – just not in chronological order. Most movie romances end when the relationship is beginning. Peter and Vandy’s love story goes much further than that. The story shifts back and forth in time, whipping between their romantic beginnings and the inevitable struggles that follow. With star-making performances by Jason Ritter and Jess Weixler, Peter and Vandy is a unique take on the exhilaration and frustrations love can bring – a love story in disorder.

Peter and Vandy opens in New York and Los Angeles on October 9, 2009.

Light Walkers and Urban Screens for G250

The Guinness 250 celebration proved to be a great day and night in Dublin. There was serious buzz and great atmosphere in and outside the pubs. By all accounts some of the live music was just incredible but we didn’t get much opportunity to witness that (except maybe a couple of moments in the vicinity of Calvin Harris and wished it was longer!)

We had 6 very high quality mobile screens which we parked up outside the music venue bars and drove around various areas of the city. We think they looked pretty impressive both in daylight and at night.

In addition to these screens we were out around busy bars with our Light Walker Projections. We got a great reaction from people in the street and the crowds of people drinking outside pubs enjoying a very rare balmy night. Who do we lobby to have it again next year?
