As I watched the earth's shadow creep across the surface of the moon, I was struck by how primal the experience felt. Not orchestrated by any earthly government and with no commercial interruptions, celestial events are truly 'above' all that. Clouds eventually obscured my view at just about full eclipse, but as I watched the sliver of light grow dimmer, thin layers of clouds appearing to wash across the reddish, shadowed surface, there was a feeling of immense insignificance of my tiny blip in the universe.
Goodbye moon.
