K-ON! © Kakifly/Houbunsha
Elex penciled in 57 manga, manhua, manhwa, and local comic titles for April, and by the 28th, will have shipped 43 (three-quarters of the Komikologi list, five of them advance-releasing in March).
Of the 12 new standalones/series, seven got April street dates: Spiral: The Bonds of Reason (Spiral: Suiri no Kizuna) by Shirodaira Kyo & Mizuno Eita [4.21], Kumpulan Cerita Berwarna Doraemon by Fujiko F. Fujio (that Elex claims is the only full-color Doraemon series on the planet; [4.14]), Kunai Legend (Kunaiden) by Tabasa Iori [4.28], Love Honor (Giri Koi) by Yamada Daisy [4.14], Pangeran Kacamata (Megane Ouji) by Mizukami Wataru [4.07] and standalones Butterfly Cloud (Chouchou Kumo) by Ashihara Hinako [4.14] and Miracle Blue (Aoi Kiseki) by Mitsuki Miko [4.21].
Still outstanding (aside from K-ON!) are: V.B. Rose by Hidaka Banri, Hitsugi Katsugi no Kuro or Shoulder-a-Coffin Kuro by Kiyuzuki Satoko, Otoboke Section Chief by Ueda Masashi (I still haven't uncovered the original Japanese title) and Burning Pen that while labeled an SC
(Serial Cantik, Elex's standalone shoujo/josei line) is likely Moeyo Pen 「 燃えよペン 」 by Shimamoto Kazuhiko, the one volume manga published by not just one but three different Japanese publishers, which launched fictional manga-ka Hono Moyuru-sensei into 24 volumes of sequels (Hoero Pen or Comic Bomber and Shin Hoero Pen or New Comic Bomber). If it's not, then find me a one-volume shoujo or josei manga titled Burning Pen.
Finales fared better. Of six, five released as planned: Kunimitsu (Kunimitsu no Matsuri) by Ando Yuma & Asaki Masashi [4.14], Love Honor (not surprising as its serialization had already concluded in Nakayoshi Gress! [4.21], MÄR by Anzai Nobuyuki [4.07], Nurse Diary (Jitsuroku! Kangofu Monogatari) by Kai Sayumi [4.14], and Tale of Poor Sisters (Binbou Shimai Monogatari) by Kazuto Izumi [4.14]. Only Andrea Tezumo's The Fifth Columnist was moved to May (the fifth, to be exact, so mark 5.05 on your calendars for Fifth volume 2 of 2).
Of the monthly anthologies, only NakaGress 79 [4.21] didn't have a new serial on offer. Takaya Natsuki's Twinkle Stars (Hoshi wa Utau) debuts in HanaLaLa 49 [4.28]. Code:Breaker by Kamijyo Akimine premiered in Shonen Magz 70 [4.07]. Defense Devil by Youn InWan & Yang Kyung-Il (and I think My First Mr. Akuno (Hajimete no Aku) by Fujiki Shun) premiered in Shonen Star 64 [4.21].
