隠の王 10

Nabari no Ou © Kamatani Yuhki/Square Enix (Serialized in GFantasy)
Published in Indonesia as The Ruler of Nabari by Elex Media Komputindo

When we last left Not!Naruto ninja Miharu and Yoite, the Ho Yay pair were on the lam, with Miharu reneging on their deal and refusing to use the Shinra Banshou to expunge Yoite's existence.

(Summary cobbled from this Wiki article; if you don't want moar [SPOILAGE], Don't. Go. There.)

In the next The Ruler of Nabari tankou (the Badass Longcoat on the volume 10 cover proving that Yoite IS a one-ninja Spotlight Stealing Squad), a wavering Raikou goes and tells Papa Wolf Yukimi that Miharu and Yoite are on their way to Banten. Apparently, Raikou isn't the only one in the know; Kasa lies in wait for Miharu in the former dispatch post of Iga Village and captures him. Iga clan leader Hattori tries to get Miharu to ditch Yoite, an invite Miharu turns down, convinced that he and Yoite are the same. It's a contention the Grey Wolf head honcho disputes. Raikou adds his two-yen worth and attempts to dissuade Hattori from offing Yoite, to which Hattori retorts that Raikou is dangerously close to forswearing allegiance and being relieved from active duty.

NEW ELEX TITLES: Hell Girl by Eto Miyuki

Who doesn't know Jigoku Shoujo? Even if you don't subscribe to NakaGress! which serialized the manga adaptation, I'm sure you've at least run over the three seasoned-anime TV Tropes describes as a genre defying, victim of the week, anti-magical girl, social commentary with a Japanese horror edge. But assuming for teh sake of the discussion that someone's still in the dark about Hell Girl

Have you heard about Hell Communication? Urban legend has it that if you post your grudge on this website at the stroke of midnight, Jigoku Shoujo Enma Ai will punish your tormentor and drag him/her to hell.

But wait. Before you start submitting names to Jigoku Tsushin, know that there's no such thing as a free lunch: revenge only comes at the price of your own soul.

[Adapted from Animax Asia's Girl from Hell synopsis and the Hell Girl volume 1: She's Coming for You Amazon description (Del Rey edition)]

Eto Miyuki's shoujo manga brings its own storyline to the table, but retains the central characters and the One soul damned, two graves dug premise. In the manga adaptation, Ai goes to the same school as her clientele and her MO differs slightly. (Wiki points out that the straw doll with the red string around its neck—untying the string constitutes agreement with the eternal damnation terms—was absent in the first few chapters.)

The series has also been adapted into a 12-epsiode live-action renzoku, airing on NTV Japan between November 2007 and January 2008 and starring Iwata Sayuri as Enma Ai, Ogura Hisahiro (the narrator in the anime series) as Wanyuudou, Kato Kazuki as Ichimoku Ren, and Sugimoto Aya as Hone-Onna.

Two sequels follow the Jigoku Shoujo manga: Shin Jigoku Shoujo (New Hell Girl; ongoing Indonesian NakaGress! serialization; three volumes in total) and Jigoku Shoujo R (one volume as at 2010.03).

Shonen Star 65/2010 - Front cover: Meitantei Conan by Aoyama Gosho

Meitantei Conan

Shonen Star 65 brings us the latest installment of Edogawa Conan, tantei sa! Detektif Conan by Aoyama Gosho, which apparently features the return of the MIBs that de-aged Meitantei Conan's teenaged Kudo Shinichi into the prepubescent Edogawa Conan:

A comatose Mizunashi Rena is guarded tightly by the FBI, but word of her whereabouts is leaked, allowing the Black Organization to breach the protection cordon. One of the syndicate's members now poses as a patient in the same hospital.

Alice Academy 13 of 21+

Are those Kokoroyomi- and Kitsuneme-kun on the cover? If so, they and the rest of the Alice Gakuen boys are in for a tough time as Valentine's Day rolls around in Alice Academy 13:

While other school boys await Valentine's Day with Am I getting honmei choklit this year? *doki* *doki* anticipation, not so the males of Alice Academy. On a day when normal girls would be giving out store-bought, if not lovingly-homemade chocolates to their beloved, the female Alice wielders target the Wizarding School's most popular boys, proferring truffles etc., hexed with curses.

Subversion of tradition regardless, who is the lucky recipient of Mikan's choco?

Or need we even (Suki na hito wa Natsume!) ask?

The Best Skilled Surgeon 3 of 11

A congenitally-defective heart should've shortened Saijo Mikoto's life, but the genius skills of a cardiac surgeon allows him to reach adolescence. To show his gratitude and afford similarly-afflicted others the same chance, Mikoto decides to become the world's greatest pediatric surgeon. (Nothing like aiming high, after all.)

Fortified with not-so modest ambitions, Mikoto dreams of resuscitating the pediatric surgery unit, to which end he attempts a planetary first: a surgery in which he sacrifices... himself.

Elex adds in its blurb: Caught up in cut-throat competition with surgery's best and brightest, the sleeping lion finally rouses!

I can't make sense of Firefox's machine translations, but here are the volume 3 chapters (16 to 24): 大きさの違い • 小児外科の女看板 • 治らないモノ • おかしな医者 • ヒーロー • 患者への思いやり • 嫌われる理由 • 優しさは災いする • メインとサブ.

Detektif Conan Seri Animasi TV 21 (Elex Media)

Detektif Conan Animasi TV
Original story
by Aoyama Gosho

Detektif Conan Seri Animasi TV 21 of 23+

(If we had the latest Detektif Conan manga installment in ShoStar 65, here we have the most recent in the anime mangafication.)

Unwordly Suzu is haunted by a homicide on a ghost ship. Ex-cop now PI Mouri Kogoro, found unconscious beside the corpse, is accused of the murder.

Any source other than Wiki not forthcoming, I'm assuming this story is based on the Season 3 Ghost Ship Murder Case (Yūreisen Satsujin Jiken) anime episodes (Episode 61-62 OAD: 1997.06.02 and 1997.06.09).

Fruits Basket 23 of 23

If you read HanaLaLa regularly, you already know how this Dysfunction Junction shoujo series ends. For those who don't, however —

The animorphism curse is lifted and the junishi and Kyo are free to pursue (relatively) normal, albeit likely still scary lives. Facing the future head-on, Kyo only wants one someone from his past beside him.

Of course, it is Fixer Sue Tohru.

Meanwhile, TOKYOPOP's Fruits Basket volume 23 description points out that before Kyo can move on to his new future, he first has to deal with his birth father issues.

Kunai Legend 2 of 4

Assume that you know Not!Naruto ninja #2 Kunai's profession by now?

Classmate Ninomiya Izuna ends up a boarder at Kunai's home, after her house is reduced to ashes in a vampire attack. Kunai, however, has to restrain the jumping for joy bit over his crush living with him, seeing as how he has to conceal his vampiric ninja secret from Izuna. If he doesn't, he stands to find himself targeted by Izuna and her vampire hunter family.

Like The Best Skilled Surgeon 3, I has untranslated chapter titles (7-16) for Kunai Legend 2: すぐに戻るから待ってて! • さっさと解毒しろ • ある老忍の村(1) • ある老忍の村(2) • ある老忍の村(3) • 清白の悪夢(1) • 清白の悪夢(2) • 清白の悪夢(3) • 清白の悪夢(4) • 背がのびるの!?

Kuro Memanggul Peti Mati 2 of 2+

No Elex Kuro Memanggul Peti Mati (Hitsugi Katsugi no Kuro) 2 blurb, so you'll have to settle for Yen Press' Shoulder-a-Coffin Kuro volume 2 description below:

With Nijuku and Sanju in tow, the road winds on for Kuro and Sen. During a lull en route, Kuro takes a turn down memory lane, revisiting an unfortunate incident during her early days as a traveler that resulted in her imprisonment! One by one, the secrets surrounding Kuro and her journey with Sen are disclosed...and the fate that Kuro will suffer should her quest fail is finally revealed.

With My Brothers 5 of 11

Sakura goes to the amusement park with friends from the soccer club and club member Nana blithely holds her hand along the way. How will Suzuki, who has a crush on Sakura, react?

Meanwhile, Valentine's Day sees Sakura unable to give chocolates to Cool Big Bro, I mean, Sis, Masashi.

And we're supposed to wonder: Why???
