A Pocket Monsters: Diamond & Pearl anime by Oriental Light and Magic began airing in Japan on TV Tokyo from September 2006 and by 12 August 2010 had reached episode 188, Conclusion of Rival Battle! Satoshi vs Shinji!!

Adaptations
A 24-episode anime adaptation by AIC x Gonzo aired on Chiba TV from April to September 2008. Seiyuu Goto Yuko and Fukuyama Jun played leads Hanazono Hikari and Takishima Kei respectively. A Valentine's special drama CD was released earlier than the anime (February 2007) and had a different cast (Asano Masumi played Hikari and Suzumura Kenichi played Kei.) Two succeeding drama CDs (June and August 2008 release) used the same actors as in the anime.

An OAV sequel, Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail, premieres July 2010, with the fourth Roberta's Blood Trail Blu-ray Disc scheduled for release in December 2010.
