Kiss Yori mo Hayaku © Tanaka Meca/Hakusensha [Serialized in LaLa]
Published in Indonesia as Faster than a Kiss by Elex Media

Sprawled on a park bench beside her only remaining family, her little brother, school girl Kaji Fumino finds herself picked up by her homeroom teacher Ojiro Kazuma who insists on taking her home. Fumino challenges Ojiro-sensei to marry her instead of simply adopting her and her sib like a couple of stray puppies. Imagine Fumino's consternation when Sensei actually agrees!

Secret Marriage that leapfrogs Student-Teacher Relationship, GO! Does Ojiro-sensei succeed in captivating his young wife? Of course! To the point where she cosplays for his homecoming everyday. That sed—and Faster than a Kiss–title notwithstanding—this here shoujo comedy is the Slowest Slow Romance. The Ma-kun × Fumino tease explains why FTAK or Kiss Yori mo Hayaku continues to serialize in LaLa (10th tankou skedded for 5 December): fans are still waiting for Moar Than Just a Kiss. Faster, preferably,

Other Tanaka Meca manga
It only needed Kiss Yori mo Hayaku for Indonesia to get all caught up with Tanaka Meca-sensei's current backlist. m&c! picked up one-shot tankou Shichigatsu no Mahoutsukai (rechristening it Wizard in July) and 7 Jikanme Rhapsody (7th Lesson Rhapsody). Elex, meanwhile, cornered the series market, publishing the five-volume Omukae desu (which became Pick Up Service when it migrated to these shores); the four-volume Tennen Pearl Pink or Natural Pearl Pink; and the likewise four-volume Sailor Fuku ni Onegai! or Sweet God.

Detektif Conan 63, Arsene Lupin 3, Welcome to Host Detective Agency 4 (Elex Media 15 August 2011 manga) [UPDATED]

The Updated with NikBabble™ Version

Idul Fitri holidays ＼（＾ ＾）／ at the end of the month till early September = 2×release skeds for this week—on the 15th and 18th—and the third week of September. The Elex top DO WANT! for this accelerated release are exclusively detective manga—oops, right, Lupin represents the opposite side of the crime divide :D

Meitantei Conan © Aoyama Gosho/Shogakukan [Serialized in Shonen Sunday]
Published in Indonesia as Detektif Conan by Elex Media

Shinichi returns to his original form, but as Haibara's antidote remains strictly experimental, is forced into hiding to wait out the drug's effects.

Later, the Detective Boys have to solve a murder at the Kaitenzushi sushi restaurant, where a customer dies from cyanide poisoning; find out who killed the host of the All-Japan Kojima tournament (a contest in which participants are surnamed Kojima) and bring the mysterious "Silver Witch" to justice.

Wiki points out that the ghost racer Silver Witch, the alleged culprit of a string of accidents on a fog-enshrouded mountain, can apparently drive in the air.

Detektif Conan 63 compiles chapters 653 through 663: My Deduction, Deduction Answer, The Revolving Weapon, Sharpshooting, Whereabouts of the Poison, Pig, Deer, Butterfly, 801 and Shakuhachi and First Class, Truth about the Contest, The Silver-White Witch White FD and The True Identity of the Witch. [*NOT* Elex chapter titles]

If you want the latest chapters available in Indonesia, check out Shonen Star, which serializes Aoyama Gosho's Meitantei Conan (along with other Shonen Sunday stars like Kekkaishi and Wild Life). ShoStar 15/2011 is slated to street on the 18th.

Meanwhile, halfway through the Kaitou Lupin Series —

Arsène Lupin 3 of 5 by Maurice Leblanc and Kazumine Daiji

Years before there was an Arsène Lupin, there were already jewelry thieves. One of the most notorious made off with the so-called Queen's Necklace. No clues were ever found and the case remains unsolved. Until now, when gentleman thief Lupin explains how the heist went down.

Before I preview another case (that the bishieful Host Detectives solve), newbies first.

A Tale of the Cat Painter by Nagao Maru

Long ago in Edo, there lived an artist named Jube...

Nekoe Juubee Otogi Soushi

Shonen Gahosha
[Serialized in Neko Panchi]
Published in Indonesia as
A Tale of the Cat Painter
by Elex Media

Every day, this young man peddles his ability to paint cats that can scare off mice. (Talk about novel pest eradication.) Of course, he's accompanied by a cat — an invisible one. As Jube goes around Edo, he meets all sorts of people and the cats that deign to live with them.

The exploits of Jube and his yokai cat comrade continue to serialize in the josei Neko Panchi, home of another (corporeal) feline, Kome si Belang. Four Nekoe Juubee Otogi Soushi tankou have been compiled as of 11 April. A unique and funny classic tale, is how Elex describes the series. I'm a dog person myself, but am intrigued enough to try A Tale of the Cat Painter just because of its Edo-jidai setting ^^

★ The other debut also stars a cat, but a very famous (robot) one — Doraemon Movie: The Doraemons - Operasi Besar Serangga Bersemi. Even Elex sez this Doraemon movie mangafication by Fujiko F. Fujio resembles other Doraemon Movie manga Elex has published. So I'm just gonna say that it's based on the 16-minute, 1998-vintage The Doraemons: The Great Operation of Springing Insects; that The Doraemons have to choose one robot insect each if they want to graduate from the Robot School; and that one volume sets you back IDR 24,000.

Nodame Cantabile 23, Nakayoshi 4/2011 (Elex Media 27 April 2011 manga) [UPDATE2: Dream Eater Merry 1 by Ushiki Yoshitaka postponed]

Update2 Elex sez in the 4 May STO that Dream Eater Merry 1 did not release on Wednesday. Keeping it here though because it's not repeated in next week's list. It's tentatively skedded for 11 May 2011. Will confirm later.

Nodame Cantabile © Ninomiya Tomoko/Kodansha
[First serialized in Kiss]
Published in Indonesia by Elex Media

After disappearing, Nodame finally returns to Paris. She also embraces the piano again, this time playing her own Free and Gleeful music though. Chiaki begins to accept the path Nodame is determined to take, but all that changes when Nodame performs Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 31.

You can see why I didn't tack on "of 23" to Nodame 23 in the post title — to accommodate the not-so off-chance that Elex publishes the two-volume Encore Opera Hen as Nodame Cantabile 24 and 25 — just like Kodansha and (Tong Li Taiwan) did.

I reinstate Kariage kun 41, per Elex's 4.27 STO. The New Kobochan 1-4 reprints that didn't release on the 20th are skedded for 4 May. (Back story here.)

New Elex manga

Whilst the Arsène Lupin edu-manga generated favorable buzz long before volume 1 actually got a street date, Dream Eater Merry emerges as the top new manga DO WANT!, prolly owing to its recent anime adapt. Elex's summary —

—goes on about the role reversal of dream demons wanting ingress to the human world and needing to possess human vessels, which is where our heroine Merry comes in, for she needs to stop the leaking nightmares...I find the Elex blurb convoluted (but still skosh stingy on Why invest? detail), so I truncated the translate. If, like me, you prefer the Fujiwara Yumeji-centric synopsis, »here's an informative one from Wikipedia. (Of course, you won't need it if you've watched the anime.)

Edit (per 2011.05.01) As advised at the top of the post, Dream Eater Merry will likely street on the 11th.

Arsène Lupin
by Elex Media

Elex also apparently wants to introduce a new generation to the eponymous Arsène Lupin, gentleman burglar who can disguise himself as anyone. In volume 1 of Kazumine Daiji's Kumon Manga Library classic, the mysterious thief is rumored to have boarded the cruise ship Provence, his alleged presence unleashing terror on passengers Close Circled by an ocean.

Will Lupin get caught? And who will do the catching?

The third premiere is the boxing troped Stand Up!, the volume 1 cover of which just makes me go Pfft! and then Guffaw! (But then again, I'm not the target demographic. Not really burning to become strong(er) through boxing, you know.) Rounding out the newbies is another Doraemon Movie manga duo, Petualangan Nobita di Kota Mainan —First and Last— based on the 1997 Doraemon: Nobita's Adventure in Clockwork City film.

Nakayoshi 4/2011: Animal Official debuts

That XX Me!'s Yukina is Nakayoshi Gress! 4's cover girl promises breath-stealing Shigure × Yukina doki-doki, but the conventional newsworthy is the debut of Fukushima Haruka's Animal Official. Circumstantial evidence makes a case for this a half-human creature slinks into the animal club; he evinces Dracula manga equaling 1-nen 5-kumi Ikimo Gakari, the ex-Nakayoshi Lovely Vampires and Werewolves, oh my! serial. Further assuming that Animal Official replaces CHOCOLATE by the same manga-ka.

The other Nakayoshi pals per the cover line-up are: Arisa by Ando Natsumi, Hell Girl Return by Eto Miyuki and Jigoku Shojo Project, Little Marchen and Ogawa and Team Saito by Sakyo (the latter's volume 5 released last February), Little Shugo Chara! by PEACH-PIT & Naphthalene Mizushima, Navi Runa by Kikuta Michiyo & Ikeda Miyoko and Shugo Chara!
