Elex boxes up droolicious that are Good Value — anyway you look at it (them). Volumes 1–3 of Tamura Yumi's Adventure of Cat Mix Toraji fantasy (reviewed »here by Raven-san) and the complete Beauty Honey (Vols. 1–3 of 3) by Matsumoto Tomo both go for IDR 24,000 a box set. The also complete Best Friend Survival! Per noted, Beauty Honey and Best Friend Survival! sets bundle complete series, but Adventure of Cat Mix Toraji remains current in Japan. Neko Mix Genkitan Toraji vol. 4 streeted February 2011; Elex's most recent release is volume 3 published April 2010. Adventure of Cat Mix Toraji 4, however, is advertised in the October Komikologi, if that entices you any.

Likewise an ongoing, Sakamichi no Apollo released its volume 7 in Japan last February. Elex has (obviously) published two volumes. No word yet on Apollon 3.

While Doubutsu no Oishasan has finished in its home country (was even reissued in eight bunkoban between 1995.12 and 1996.06), Elex's latest is Animal Doctor 8, which streeted last August. This series has been healthily regular in its release sked, hint hint :D

I'm sure most of us, if not all of us, have bumped into the monk Sanzo and the Monkey King on their Journey to the West sometime, somewhere along the manga road. Gogogo Saiyuki is Konishi Noriyuki's shounen spin on the popular classic. Elex promises a hilarious! ride ahead.

Gogogo Saiyuki Shin Gokuden debuted in 2008 in Corocoro Comic (home of Inazuma Eleven and Dorabase, among others). Elex indicates the manga status in Japan as 1–12 (Ongoing) but I can only dig up to volume 7 (per 28 June 2011). So, that's the volume tally I use.

Adaptations
A 51-episode anime adaptation by Bones aired between October 2003 and October 2004, followed by a film sequel (Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa, July 2005) and a second 64-episode series Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood that aired between April 2009 and July 2010. Adaptations

Adaptations
Studio Pierrot and Aniplex's 220-episode anime co-production, based on manga volumes 1-27, aired from October 2002 to February 2007 in Japan. Another of Shinra's adoptive fathers pops up — Professor Stan tracking a stolen Cambodian Devata sculpture to Japan. Unlike risk-taker dad Ray though, Stan appears normal. But his (surface) serenity presages headaches for our (already) clueless genius Shinra.

Let me tell you a troublesome story: Every few decades, the light of a blue moon illuminates the earth, causing the faerie tale world children know from bedtime stories to experience weirdness. For this reason, the council of the world of tales enacted the Moonlight Ordinance.

Baka-Updates Manga in its Gekkou Jourei description contributes the name of our Hero: Iwasaki Gekko, high school student slash enforcer of the Moonlight Ordinance or Act aimed at normalizing the strange. (I don't know who is the girl on the cover; MU didn't say.)

Best known for the award-winning Calvin and Hobbes on acid Ushio to Tora, Fujita Kazuhiro-sensei is also the brain behind Bakegyamon. His 43-volume Karakuri Circus premieres over on Level Comics's side the same day as Moonlight Act. Both serialized in Shonen Sunday, but Gekkou Jourei is still current.

Oh, and manga-ka Raiku Makoto (Konjiki no Gash!!), Anzai Nobuyuki (Flame of Recca) and Inoue Kazurou (Midori Days) once worked as Fujita-sensei's assistants.

Apparently, an IDR 160,000 price ticket for a 10-volume box set isn't as hard to swallow as I'd first surmised; LX kids jumped at the chance of acquiring Dragon Ball volumes 1-10, 11-20 AND 21 to 30. Now, I don't know how many DB volumes Elex plans to bundle in total, but if we go by the original 42 tankou, one would need another IDR 192,000 on top of the IDR 480,000 for these three sets to complete the collection. So looking at an IDR 672,000 outlay or roughly USD 78.62 here.

Now if that Edisi Baru/New Edition you can see if you squint at teh cover means Elex is releasing the kanzenban (off-off-OFF! chance), then you'd need to factor in the cost of only four more volumes. But considering the IDR 16,000/volume price—500 rupiah less than the price of a regular tank—I doubt it's the kanzenban.

Despite One Piece 56's appearance in this Elex manga release, DO WANT! votes for Katou Motohiro's C.M.B. 14 came in just that slight bit faster and ultimately, edged out the highest-selling manga in the history of Weekly Shonen Jump from the premier Must-Have spot. The jockeying for position was made even more compelling by the fact that One Piece was assaulted on another front by a relatively low-key shoujo manga—With My Brothers—no less.

What this GET! one-upmanship indicates, I leave up to you to infer. My job is to blurb.

And in C.M.B. 14, Mou demands a photograph of a butterfly as her payment for the recent organ case. Not just any old butterfly, mind you; Mou wants an immortalization of the Colias imperialis — of which only eight specimens have been found since discovery 150 years ago. The search for the ninth super rare butterfly takes Shinra to Argentina, a country once steeped in the violence of military terror. As for With My Brothers 10, Tsuyoshi's dream of owning his own café comes true; unfortunately, customers are staying away because of rumors of a ghost haunting the premises. Elsewhere, Sakura becomes the bone of contention between Nana and Masashi, with Nana challenging the older man for the prize of 10 dates with Sakura.

Only one more tankou to go. Good, given that With My Brothers didn't get to conclude in HanaLaLa, may it requiescat in pace.

Reissues

After Conan, Elex reissues box sets for Eyeshield 21 (volumes 1-10 and 11-20) and One Piece (volumes 21-30 and 31-40). This is the third such rerelease. For those who come to collecting late, each value bundle now carries a price tag of IDR 160,000.
