Ireland's Universal Periodic Review - Today is the Day

Today - 6 October 2011, our human rights record comes under examination by the United Nations as we face our first ever Universal Periodic Review.

Over the last few months a 17 member coalition of leading organisations have worked hard under the 'Your Rights. Right now' banner to hear our voice and ensure that diplomatic representatives in Geneva are fully informed about the situation in Ireland.

Today sees Minister Alan Shatter defend Ireland's human rights record in a three hour hearing at UN headquarters.

I was flicking through The Sunday Times this morning and I was was happy to find this free postcard courtesy of Unicef. It is to commemorate the 90th birthday of Nelson Mandela. And finally.......our humble blog got a mention in the Computers in Business section of todays Sunday Business Post. There is even a picture of my good self and one of our City Card racks pictured in The Bodega Bar in Dun Laoghaire.
