Erementar Gerad 2, Gamaran 1 by Nakamaru Yosuke, Love Sick 3 of 3 (m&c! 7 December 2011 manga) [UPDATED]

Debuting Gamaran snaps up first runner-up DO WANT!, but Most Wanted m&c! manga remains Erementar Gerad 2. Just sayin'.

Gamaran takes place during the middle Edo period. One "demon" state, Unabara, attracts martial artists who know naught else but fighting. Unabara's daimyo Washitzu Naosata is searching for a successor from among his 31 sons, and for this purpose, holds a tournament to determine who will later rule in his stead. Each son must field a champion in the tourney, to fight other chosen warriors until only one is left standing. The son who backs up the winner will become Unabara's next ruler.

To ensure his ascent to power, one of the daimyo's sons Naoyoshi picks Kurogane Gama, son of the legendary swordsman Kurogane Jinsuke, said to have slain at least a thousand men. Gama agrees, but can the youth best fighters much more experienced than he?

Gamaran, serializing in Weekly Shonen Magazine, appears to be Nakamaru Yosuke-sensei's debut series. (I couldn't find any other manga attributed to him.) Thirteen volumes have been released as of 17 November 2011. The fourteenth tankou streets in Japan on 17 January.

Aside from the shounen Gamaran, Dear! from Mitsuki Kaco also debuts—and concludes—this street date. The Childhood Friends, Love Triangle, Summer shoujo romance first serialized in Betsucomi and Deluxe Betsucomi.

Several series are also ending. In addition to Morie Satoshi's Love Sick, Yamada Nanpei's How to be a Man also curtains, as does Hwang MiRee's My Own Princess. Reverie Metherlence insists on going to Edel Garden, a prosperous land that is the birthplace of Edel Raid, the strongest living weapon capable of interacting with humans. But entering Edel Garden proves more challenging than either could have foreseen, what with a shady organization plotting all manner of nefarious upon the Edel Raids.

Baka-Updates Manga users tag Eremental Gerad with the expected Sentient Weapon, Special Abilities, Pirates, but adds Kuudere, defined as an anime/manga slang term for a character that is cold, blunt, cynical, and pretty much doesn't care if her beloved dies. Wonder who's the kuudere in Eremental Gerad? Is it Ren? (The anime aired so long ago, I can't even remember what happened in the first eppie, let alone the series. >.<) Urban Dictionary gives C.C. from Code Geass as its kuudere example.

Baka-Updates Manga shares that Before her career as a mangaka took off, she started out working as an assistant to Amano Kozue. I guess it's safe to say that Eremental Gerad is Azuma Mayumi's breakout manga; even after the 18th volume (published 2010.03.10 in Japan), she's still running with it — with the spin-off Erementar Gerad: Aozora no Senki (six Blade Comics volumes published between July 2004 and March 2010; ongoing).

Before either Eremental Gerad or EG: Aozora no Senki, Azuma Mayumi-sensei published Vampire Savior - Tamashii no Mayoigo (Square Enix Gangan Comics: volumes 1 to 5 of 5 from 1998.06 to 2001.10), Star Ocean: The Second Story (seven Gangan Comics volumes between 1999.05 and 2001.11), the sports comedy Get! (Gangan Comics: 2000.03) and the Night Walker! Azuma Mayumi Tanpenshū compile (Gangan Comics: 2000.03). I don't know if m&c! has published any of them.

What happens when you throw together a headstrong heir-apparent and a more than meets the eye companion? Also, what kind of sword is the prince seeking?

After some You can't be a Hollow! and You're alive?! protestations from Ulquiorra-sama and Ishida-kun, Hollow Ichigo suddenly appears behind Ulquiorra, grabbing one of his arms and ripping it off. (That last quote comes from Bleach Wiki's The Lust 4 synop.)

Bleach 41: Heart—which has Espada Yammy Llargo as the cover boy (>.<)—compiles chapters 350 through 358: The Lust 4, The Lust 5, The Lust 6, The Ash, Heart, Azul-Blood Splash, Tyrant of Skulls, The Colossus of Fear and King of the Clouds.

Omnibus closer Baby, Let's Dance features a Yakuza's daughter instead of son — Ai who dreams of a prince but lands...Sousuke who is, to put it mildly, a little out there. Other Shiiba Nana manga published by m&c!: Kiss Me After School!, Gorgeous Twins, Prince Romantica and The Underground Kids. Latest is My Egoist Teacher ♥, originally Sensei wa Egotist. If/when m&c! licenses Nana-chan's Sensei wa Sadistic (first published in Japan 2010.08), I wonder what m&c! will title it?

Imma also wait for the Bishies galore! Ookamitachi no Shiikuho (JP release: 2011.02); the Boarding House, Childhood Friends Love Share (2010.05); and Bishounen Moraimashita, starring a bishounen butler (2008.06).

BTW, can anyone confirm whether m&c! has already published Animal Jungle (2007.11 vintage)? I can't find it in m&c!'s site (which sports a yummy new look ^^.) And since I've turned this sub-section into Shiiba Nana-sensei's backlist list, might as well mention Akuma na Kare to Ikenie Tenshi that, based on its original 2005.08 street date, is prolly Sensei's debut tank.

Adaptations
Studio Pierrot's anime adaptation first broadcast in October 2004 and continues to this day. Season 15: Gotei 13 Invading Army opened with episode 317 in April 2011; latest episode 326 aired 2011.06.14). Seiyuu Morita Masakazu and Orikasa Fumiko star as Kurosaki Ichigo and Kuchiki Rukia, with Park Romi playing 10th Division captain Hitsugaya Toshiro. Two OAVs and four theatrical movies—Memories of Nobody, The DiamondDust Rebellion, Another Hyōrinmaru, Fade to Black, I Call Your Name and Bleach: The Hell Verse—have been released. Additionally, Warner Bros. has confirmed it will be producing a Bleach live-action film.
