Thanks to a forgetful Viennese professor, Iriya succeeds in extracting a name for he who accompanied the Nazis' Atlantis quest during WWII: "Rot Hase" or The Red Rabbit. Rot Hase hails from Izumo, prompting Iriya to fly to the so-called Land of the Gods, whence grew myths of Japan's deities. Little does Iriya expect that cornering The Red Rabbit in his den would pit him against a demon that devours humans.

Adaptations
A 13-episode anime adaptation by Gonzo aired on Fuji TV from October 2001 to January 2002, starring seiyuu Nakata Jouji (Alucard), Orikasa Fumiko (Seras Victoria) and Sakakibara Yoshiko (Sir Integra Hellsing). A Hellsing Ultimate OAV (starring the same voice cast) premiered in Japan in January 2006. The first four episodes were produced by Satelight, with Madhouse taking over as of OAV V. Hellsing VIII premiered 27 July 2011, while Hellsing IX is slated for an early 2012 release, along with the first episode of The Dawn.
A Crossfire drama CD has also been released.
