Silent Love by Hattori Miki and Otomental 1 by Yokoyama Mayumi (3L Comics 12 January 2012 shoujo manga)

Otomental 1, Silent Love (3L)

Otomental © Yokoyama Mayumi/Shogakukan [First serialized in Betsucomi] · Ninkoi © Hattori Miki/Shogakukan [First serialized in Sho-Comi]. Published in Indonesia as Otomental and Silent Love by Tiga Lancar Comic

Ninkoi. Have you passed the Love Law!?

Sixteen y.o. ninja Kamui Shinobu is on her way to bodyguard famous actor Kitaoji Kou. Shinobu secretly admires Kou and this first mission is Bad for her (noisy) heart. Because a ninja AB-SO-LUTE-LY must not fall in love with her master.

Can Kou's selfishness and S-attitude prevent Shinobu from breaking the unbreakable rule? See Silent Love, one of two 3L shoujo manga debuts this release, for the has-to-be-negative answer :D (I lurved Hattori Miki's delish Heart, Body & XX even more than Not!Sibcest He Is More Than My Brother, so of course, I blurb Silent Love first. Additionally, ex-Sho-Comi Ninkoi is an "office romance" LOL.)

I preview 3L's newest Yokoyama Mayumi series—the Delinquents, Childhood Friends, Love Triangles, First Kiss, First Love, Otomental—after the two-point release list.

Other Hattori Miki manga
3L has published all to date—I already mentioned Heart, Body & XX (Kokoro mo Karada mo xx mo...) and He Is More Than My Brother (Sono Otoko, Oniichan Ijou)—so none remain after Rated For Teens Silent Love/Ninkoi's release. Unless you refer to one-shots. Hattori Miki has contributed one of seven pure love stories in Houkago, Kimi to Koi o Shite., the 2010.04-vintage Flower Comics anthology top-billed by Ikeyamada Go. (I think the one-shot is titled Kanpekina Kimi, Donkan'na Anata.) A couple more one-shots appear in May I Take Your Glasses Off? Megane - Hazushitemo Ii desu ka? (another antho led by Ikeyamada Go; Flower Comics: 2009.07; the Megane Danshi wo Hitorijime one-shot) and the Sho-Comi Girl's Collection Onnanoko wa Koi o Suru to Mousou Shichaun desu. headlined by Minase Ai (Flower Comics: 2010.12).

Beast Lover 1 and 2 (m&c!)

Beast Master © Motomi Kyousuke/Shogakukan [First serialized in Betsucomi]. Published in Indonesia as Beast Lover by Gramedia/m&c!

Kubozuka Yuiko loves animals, but for some strange reason, they don't love her back. Different from Aoi Reo whom beasts adore, despite (or because of?) his fierce glares, which makes humans give him the berth you'd give a wild animal.Yuiko is the only one brave enough to approach Reo, the sole person willing to delve beneath the ferocious exterior.

Because who is Reo, really?

What m&c!'s preview neglects but VIZ Media's Beast Master, Vol. 1 description points out, Leo/Reo goes berserk whenever he sees blood.

So we have Animal Characteristics, Strong Female Lead, Master-Pet Relationship. Baka-Updates Manga users add s'more tags for Beast Master, originally serialized in Betsucomi, but I'll let you discover them on your own :) (Yes, that means GET!)

The one-shot Fly caps the first Beast Lover volume. Find volume 2's preview, as well as synops for Mizuho Rino's second Chocolate MagicChocolate Magic - Bittersweet after the release list.

m&c! reprints a quartet of much-wubbed shoujo one-shot tankou: Café de Romance by Miyawaki Yukino , Figure Star (Figure Star Koori no Ue de Dakishimete) by Nagareda Masami, Hijiri, The Boy Next To Me (Tonari no Hijiri-kun) by Yagami Chitose and the manga that locked in my Shiumi Saki stalking: My Rival Is My Love or Rival wa Koibito. (Too bad later Shiumi Saki don't even come close to the emotional resonance of My Rival — I'm looking at you, Misunderstand Girl and Angry Prince and Perfect Boy Falls in Love.) "Pray to the holy light!"

To prevent Zelf's resurrection, the Magic Council fires its super cannon Etherion. Elsa—who chooses to sacrifice her life to Gerald—and Natsu who stays behind with her in the Tower of Heaven are sitting (or standing) ducks for the coming apocalypse.

To add to Elex's synops, Jellal [Gerald] knows that the Council's attack could kill both him and the Fairy Tail wizards—and he isn't running away. What is he plotting? ponders Del Rey's Fairy Tail, Vol. 12: The Doomsday Weapon! preview, as does Pika's Fairy Tail, Tome 12 blurb except in French. Shonen Magz Issue 01/2012: School Rumble and Ninja Clan

Shonen Magz 01/2012 - FC: School Rumble

School Rumble
© Kobayashi Jin
Kodansha
[Weekly Shonen Magazine]

After 10 issues, Kobayashi Jin's kooky school comedy School Rumble again grabs the cover, which portends...whatever... but has to give way to Shigahaku's Ninja Clan (Shiinake no Hitobito), for the Featured series:

Yayoi, a ninja with a grudge against Utsuki and regards her as Shinobi Enemy #1, goes after Shina. Apparently, a secret duty comes with the position of "Master." Something intriguing.

Apart from School Rumble, Ninja Clan and Mashima Hiro's Fairy Tail, these serials also continue: Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE by CLAMP, Beck by Harold Sakuishi, Vinland Saga by Yukimura Makoto, Ghost's Doctor by Sato Yuki, Kungfu Boy Legends by Maekawa Takeshi, Tokkyu! by Komori Yoichi & Kubo Mitsuro, Blazer Drive by Kishimoto Seishi and Code:Breaker by Kamijyo Akimine.

Collecting any of the above series? Reminding what's available by way of tankou (aside from Fairy Tail 12): Beck 30 (released 2011.12.28), Kungfu Boy Legends volume 10 (11.30), Ghost's Doctor 8 (10.12), Vinland Saga 7 (9.19), Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle 17 (2010.10.27), Tokkyu! 15 (2010.10.06) and School Rumble 11 (2010.06.16) 12 (2010.09.22).

I really feel like booting Moa eternally from the scene and hoping that Narumi makes Momoka happy from here on out. But looking at the bewildered Momoka on the back cover (left)—and mindful that Namida Usagi has released eight volumes in Japan, with the ninth on the way (2012.02.24 street date)—we still have some ways to go before a definitive Happy Even After :P

Gamaran vol 2 of 13+
By Nakamaru Yosuke

The daimyou's 31 sons jostle for a shot at succeeding their father and ruling Unabara: the champions they field in Unabara's tournament of attrition will determine who will ascend to power.

Kurogane Gama, representing Washitzu Naoyoshi, faces Ten'gen fighters, masters in Naginata jutsu. He manages to subdue Ren'Ge, but can he withstand the true power of Baian Maki, Ten'gen's head honcho?

Thirteen Gamaran tankou have been compiled in Japan as of November 2011. Volume 14 is scheduled for a 17 January 2012 release.

New m&c! titles
Two Cherry mangazine series graduate to tankou: Always by Your Side (Itsumo Soba ni Koi no Uta) by Nakamura Sayumi and I Love Dog and You (Inu Jikan) by Ichikawa Show. I preview the shoujo manga pair, one ex-ChuChu and the other originally serialized in Sho-Comi, below the release list.
