Fairy Tail 12, 07-GHOST 4, Kekkaishi 11 (Elex Media 11 January 2012 manga)

Fairy Tail 12, 07-GHOST 4, Kekkaishi 11 (Elex Media)

Fairy Tail © Mashima Hiro/Kodansha [Serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine] · 07-GHOST © Amemiya Yuki, Ichihara Yukino/Ichijinsha [Serialized in Comic Zero-Sum] · Kekkaishi © Tanabe Yellow/Shogakukan [First serialized in Shonen Sunday]. Published in Indonesia as Fairy Tail, 07-GHOST and Kekkaishi by Elex Media

"Pray to the holy light!"

To prevent Zelf's resurrection, the Magic Council fires its super cannon Etherion. Elsa—who chooses to sacrifice her life to Gerald—and Natsu who stays behind with her in the Tower of Heaven are sitting (or standing) ducks for the coming apocalypse.

To add to Elex's synops, Jellal [Gerald] knows that the Council's attack could kill both him and the Fairy Tail wizards—and he isn't running away. What is he plotting? ponders Del Rey's Fairy Tail, Vol. 12: The Doomsday Weapon! preview, as does Pika's Fairy Tail, Tome 12 blurb except in French. Well, you already know the answer if you watched the anime, but if you didn't—and don't mind the   SPOILWiki doesn't stop short of revealing Jellal/Gerald's true agenda.

Fairy Tail volume 12 compiles chapters 92 to 100: Destiny, Pray to the Sacred Light, One Person, Sleeping Beauty Warrior, Meteor, A Life as a Shield, Dragon Force, Titania Falls and To Tomorrow! [*NOT Elex chapter titles]

For Fairy Tail installments beyond chapter 100, grab the latest Shonen Magz. Issue 01/2012 streets the same day as Fairy Tail 12 (ShoMagz 12/2011 actually shares the cover with volume 12.) Thirty Fairy Tail tankou have been released in Japan as of 16 December 2011. Volume 31 is scheduled for 17 February 2012.

Manga tankou previews resume after the release list.

Shonen Magz Issue 01/2012: School Rumble and Ninja Clan

© Kobayashi Jin
Kodansha
[Weekly Shonen Magazine]

After 10 issues, Kobayashi Jin's kooky school comedy School Rumble again grabs the cover, which portends...whatever... but has to give way to Shigahaku's Ninja Clan (Shiinake no Hitobito), for the Featured series:

Yayoi, a ninja with a grudge against Utsuki and regards her as Shinobi Enemy #1, goes after Shina. Apparently, a secret duty comes with the position of "Master." Something intriguing.

Apart from School Rumble, Ninja Clan and Mashima Hiro's Fairy Tail, these serials also continue: Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE by CLAMP, Beck by Harold Sakuishi, Vinland Saga by Yukimura Makoto, Ghost's Doctor by Sato Yuki, Kungfu Boy Legends by Maekawa Takeshi, Tokkyu! by Komori Yoichi & Kubo Mitsuro, Blazer Drive by Kishimoto Seishi and Code:Breaker by Kamijyo Akimine.

Collecting any of the above series? Reminding what's available by way of tankou (aside from Fairy Tail 12): Beck 30 (released 2011.12.28), Kungfu Boy Legends volume 10 (11.30), Ghost's Doctor 8 (10.12), Vinland Saga 7 (9.19), Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle 17 (2010.10.27), Tokkyu! 15 (2010.10.06) and School Rumble 11 (2010.06.16) 12 (2010.09.22).

di[e]ce 1 by Yamamoto Kana & Saki Otoh and You are Mine 1 by Ohta Saki (3L josei and shoujo manga out nau~)

Streeted 30 December 2011, according to Angelzon. Oh, and happy new year 2012 (I've been out with teh flu. :P)

di[e]ce 1 and You are Mine 1 (Tiga Lancar Comic)

di[e]ce © Yamamoto Kana & Saki Otoh/Ichijinsha [First serialized in Comic Zero-Sum] · Kimi wa Boku no Mono © Ohta Saki/Shogakukan [First serialized in Cheese!]. Published in Indonesia as di[e]ce and You are Mine by Tiga Lancar Semesta/3L

I'm betting di[e]ce by doujinshi circle Negahyst Yamamoto Kana and Saki Otoh will prove to be the next Tramp for 3L. What do you think?

Identical faces, same birthdays. The lives of Naruse Kazuki and Koutake Haruki are upended when they turn 16, the milestone marking the start of a deadly game in which their lives are forfeit.

So we get Survival, Best Friends, Chess Roles, Game of Death, Betrayal (Baka-Updates Manga user tags for di[e]ce).

I mentioned that Yamamoto Kana and Saki Otoh form the doujinshi circle Negahyst; Saki Otoh also belongs to the manga-ka group Naked Ape. Both have logged an impressive list of doujinshi (for Death Note, Eyeshield 21, Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, Naruto, Prince of Tennis)—see here and here—but every so often, manga series creep in like the shoujo Ken was a normal high-school student until he was killed...chasing after a riceball Shinigami Doggy, serialized in ASCII Media Works's Sylph (two Sylph Comics tankou per 2011.08) or Togainu no Chi, based Nitro+CHiRAL's visual novel of the same name (Sylph Comics: 2008.07).

I don't know what rating 3L gives di[e]ce 1—can't tell from the cover—but I'm assuming it's as safe as the no overt BL Togainu no Chi.

Meanwhile, Ohta Saki's You are Mine is clearly marked as suitable for a Teen audience, despite having originally serialized in Cheese! Let's assume that's for Older Teens, to be safe. (Scroll down for You are Mine's preview.)

07-GHOST vol 3 of 12+
by Amemiya Yuki, Ichihara Yukino

To avenge his father and his best friend, Teito spends days training hard for his bishop promotion, and the privileges that come with the appointment. But the enemy is not about to leave Teito and the Eye of Mikhail alone. Ayanami sends not only Call but also other flunkies to infiltrate Sanctuary.

The horrific murder of an ex-convict sends ripples of unease across the church, even as the clergy exam approaches ever closer and the acolytes seem none the wiser to the danger they are in. A traitor lurks in the midst, and Teito becomes the target of a Warsfeil - an evolved version of Kor - to bait the Seven Ghost Zehel and draw him out of hiding. [Chuang Yi in its 07-GHOST Vol.3 synopsis]

And when the traitor is revealed, something precious will yet again be lost...

07-GHOST volume 3 compiles Kapitel (chapters) 12 through 17, Nightmare Parts 3 to 8, that 07 Ghost Wiki sez correspond to anime episodes 14 to 18. The most recent tankou Kapitel is 73, Curse, bound in volume 12, published last July. (Though not for long; Volume 13 is skedded to release in Japan the day before Christmas.)

I will add the missing blurbs when they become available. «Done

A note on the special priced sets
Many have observed that this Elex release sked is stronger on the special price packages than current series (value sets outnumber currents four to one). Still, rejoice because among the priced off are Spiral: The Bonds of Reason (volumes 1–10 of 15) and Tokkyu!! (volumes 1–8 and 9–15 of 20). If I knew it would come to this, I wouldn't have traipsed all over the metro just to hunt down these volumes :P
