Narumi better redeem himself in the next Namida Usagi, or... (I start shipping Momoka with Amano.)

New m&c! titles

Four series premiere: Takada Rie's not quite Bambino! josei manga Kitchen Palette, Sugiyama Miwako's Love, Romance and the World (the love-triangled heroine of which looks like a grade-schooler >,<) and My Dearest Pochi that tweep MayzMeow-san speculates might turn out as angsty as Tachibana Yutaka's other shoujo offerings. (She might've been alluding to Kana, Kamo AKA Love Me, Love Me Not as a model.) The lone soonjung manhwa n00b is Moon Fighters that I ab-so-lute-ly hated when I tried it out as Moon Boy (would've preferred that m&c! liberated the latest Chiro instead :P).

These standalones also debut — (the disappointing) Perfect Boy Falls in Love by Shiumi Saki and Love at Sakura Dormitory by Morita Yuki that actually surprised me for being so 6 of 10 yummy, its Ciao creds notwithstanding.

You also have to include the Ramadhan/Idul Fitri-apropos Real Masjid local comic among the debuts.

After much groveling, Komugi prevails on owner Tetsuri to let her work the kitchen. Chef Tetsuri's condition: that the rich brat survives on the salary he gives her, a pittance in her eyes.

Nik sez.... In the initial flush after finishing the four chapters (piatti) that comprise Kitchen Palette ~Komugi's Love Flavor in Training 1, I gave it an 8.5 of 10. (It kept me company in traffic and made the Jakarta congestion bearable desu kara.) I later revised that Too High! rating to 7.5. The downgrade, however, does not detract from Enjoyable. It remains so, but Komugi—and the sharp-tongued Tetsuri—will have to pull out the romance big guns if I am to up later Kitchen Palette grades.

Other Takada Rie manga: Takada Rie is prolly not unknown among Indonesian shoujo (and josei) fans. 3L or Tiga Lancar Comic is actually built on Takada Rie's Ex-delinquent × Naive Female Lead Heart. 3L went on to license Hadashi no Aitsu, Manatsu, Wild Act, Happy Hustle High, A Hard Trainer, Love Get You, Love Tripper, Punch!!, To Be the Lady on Top AND most recently — Doctor's Love (Oshiri Ai - Shinsatsu chuu -) and its prequel Couple Who Love Buttocks (Futari wa Oshiri Ai) that finished its Indonesian run last May.

Unless its license lapses, 3L will definitely publish the third Oshiri Ai - Shinsatsu chuu - (Japan street date: 2011.09.09). But I hope m&c! follows up Kitchen Palette soon with the ongoing Calligraphy! troped Ippitsu Nyuukon!, also a Hakusensha HLC Silky series (volume 1 published in Japan last 5 July). It remains to be seen which company snaps up supernatural fantasy Gaba Kawa (Japan release: 2006.07; VIZ Media's Shojo Beat Gaba Kawa per 2008.11) —has anyone?—and the Transfer student/Soccer Trouble Kick (JP: 2004.03). I don't know who, if any, licensed the Age Gap, Orphan Dandan Aishite first published in Japan 1993.04 (rereleased as the Flower Comics Deluxe DANDAN Aishite in 2003.05) and sequel Dandan Dakishimete (JP: 1994.05).

It would've been perfect if now that 3L has checked off Couple Who Love Buttocks from its To Do list, it focuses on the sequel Doctor's Love, but ain't happening. The follow-up to Kuraku × Asako appears to be stuck at volume 2, even in its home country. But I'm jumping the gun. In the prequel's finale —

His willfulness drives her crazy, but Dr. Asako still loves genius colorectal surgeon Kuraku Budou. (Her boss's pheromones got a lot to do with it.) Eventually, Asako's surgical ‘Prince’ reciprocates and they end up lovers.

Sadly for Asako, her love life continues on its zero passion track — perhaps their first date would change that?? It appears so, that is, until Kamizu the troublemaker shows up.

But before the newbie, Takada Rie's Doctor's Love 2 first. The second Oshiri Ai - Shinsatsu chuu comes as so much welcome news, having just finished and lurved, lurved, lurved! the prequel Futari wa Oshiri Ai, two volumes of which have been released here under the Pfft! title Couple Who Love Buttocks. Actually, I wanted 3L to liberate the third CWLB, but will settle for DL 2 in the interim.

In Doctor's Love 2, thirty-something Ujou Asako-sensei is still assisting wunderkind colorectal surgeon Kuraku Budou at the clinic he owns and operates. Kuraku-sensei hasn't changed much (or so goes the back cover blurb); he persists at displaying May I faint? bedside manner and mirabile visu surgical precision whilst on the clock, but subjects Asako to prankish whimsies after closing time. (They live together.)

Childishness aside, Asako remains besotted with My Prince!, leading her to all sorts of shenanigans when she and Kuraku-sensei go to the beach. But who would've thought that she would... Yup, the blurb over at Angelzon stops there. Now, go and fill in your prescription of this unique (hemorrhoidal) love comedy.

Yes, yes, it's been at least 10 days since these 3L manga—Couple who Love Buttocks 2 and My Sweet Roommate 2—made it to bookstore shelves, but since (1) it's only one more time that I need to line up at a cashier holding a Couple who Love Buttocks tome and (2) someone asked me what I thought about Couple who Love Buttocks and (3) I need something to get me out of my blogging slump, so post we go.

In the second to the last volume of Takada Rie's genius colorectal surgeon x assistant romance, biseinen Kuraku Budou-sensei continues to treat Asako little more than a ‘lurve slave,’ saddling her with housework in addition to her clinic duties.

Can Asako make Budou 'fess up to his real feelings? At least, enough to make her job a little less onerous?

3L promises that this second volume, still rated   DEWASA or Mature, will make you laugh until your sides hurt.

Whoever observed that one should be careful of what one wishes for was really on to something. Because never would I have dreamed when I asked for 3L to license the prequel to Takada Rie's Doctor's Love that I would get it. (And within two months of the Doctor's Love premiere, too.) And now that it's supposed to be in stores, it would really test my GET! anything Takada Rie courage to walk up to a cashier carrying — Couple who Love Buttocks 1.

Because over and above the title's egregious singular/plural disagreement (Couple is singular, d*mmit!), how can you keep a straight face whilst hanging on to a manga titled Couple who Love Buttocks?? And for two more times after that at that? (The josei series spans three volumes.) Sure, the original 「ふたりはおしり愛」 does translate into some serious rear end love, butt! I mean, but!

ROTFLMAO over, here's the Futari wa Oshiri Ai synopsis:

Kuraku Budou. A ‘sinful’ man who makes flowers bloom in the hearts of his patients. But the genius colorectal surgeon turns out to be One Giant Ego, as Asako—living with, working for, and worshipping Kuraku-sensei—finds out to her mortification.

For once the biseinen doctor strips off his white coat, he transforms into one willful dude who upends Asako's life.

Only time will tell if Asako can withstand the doctor's overtures.

Again, because nobody else but me would bother, advising latest 3L josei and shoujo manga already available in book stores. I apologize for the tardiness; my 3L contact has vanished, so these heads-ups are tied to my manga runs. (Contrary to rumor, I don't camp out in Gramed.)

First up is the josei series Doctor's Love ~ during a medical examination by Takada Rie, starring Kuraku Budou, a genius colorectal surgeon blessed with biseinen beauty and a swoon-inducing bedside manner. Only his locum tenens Ujou Asako knows Kuraku-sensei's after-hours nature, but that doesn't stop her from remaining besotted with the tyrant.

Mini-review: I knew there was a reason I kept feeling, while I was reading it, that something must've preceded Doctor's Love (originally Oshiri Ai - Shinsatsu chuu); there's a three-volume prequel, Futari wa Oshiri Ai, that, unless I'm gravely mistaken, has not yet released in Indonesia. Considering the 3L empire was largely founded on Takada Rie manga—3L's first license was Heart and since 2004? 2005? has published Wild Act, Manatsu, Happy Hustle High, Hadashi no Aitsu, A Hard Trainer, Love Get You, Punch!!, Love Tripper, even the 1992-vintage To Be the Lady on Top (I know; they're all in my library)—youdathunk Futari wa Oshiri Ai would've released first.

On the Doctor's Love ♡ plus side, Takada Rie-sensei's mellower chara design evolution is TDF, not to mention there's the novelty of a romantic lead who specializes in literal a*seholes. The latter, however, is a double-edged scalpel supplying the minus. I really didn't want to see hemorrhoids up close nor cans stuffed up b*tts in my manga.

Doctor's Love volume 1 includes the omake Cat Catch.

I don't have a snap review of this, but just the fact that I passed it up already implies... whatever you want it to imply. (I didn't get because I wasn't impressed with the also 3L-published Boy's Story nor M's Dilemma. I likewise passed up on I Love High School 1.)

Let's Do Extracurricular Lesson by Ichidou Hikaru

Model student Aoi finds there's more to life than textbooks after she falls (in lust) for a guy whose name she doesn't even know.

The above snap synop refers to the antho christener Let's Do Extracurricular Lesson. Four more shorts follow—His Wild Idea, I Want To Be Pretty, I'm His Toy and I Want It!—all variations on the Let's H! theme.

Yummy bishies regardless, I can only recommend this as a Rent.

Ichidou Hikaru-sensei also created standalone Kahanshin ga Yajuu and the two-volume Osu Mesu Kissu.
