Black Butler 9 (Elex Media)

Kuroshitsuji © Toboso Yana/Square Enix [Serialized in GFantasy]
Published in Indonesia as Black Butler by Elex Media

All worship at the feet of goddess, I mean, Elex editor Fitri-san, for her speedy hard work lets us enjoy Black Butler 9—this sked's top DO WANT!—a mere five months from its Japanese premiere.

Please take care of my lord’ cryptically prefaces Elex's blurb; in the wake of the Circus case, the Queen's butler pays a visit to Phantomhive manor. Not long after, on a dark and stormy but festive night, tragedy strikes. A butler closes his eyes—forever?—but which one?

Black Butler IX contains chapters 38-42: That Butler, Pathetic; That Butler, Astonishment; That Butler, Accommodates; That Butler, Death; and That Butler, Substituted. (These are NOT Elex's titles.)

From an alternate Victorian England, we depart for faux ancient Greece.

Legend of Nereid 11 of 15 by Hwang MiRee

Prince Thaion murders Eurike and employs the so-called jealous fit to hasten the war brewing between the Euryponti and Attica kingdoms. A crusade that uses Matia as the rallying point.

LXO peeps quivering for Kome si Belang outnumber those anticipating the licensed Crayon Shinchan. Doesn't come as a surprise as the world already knows naughty kindergartener Nohara Shinnosuke alias Shinchan and the antics he gets up to. The feline keeyootness on the right might shed light on why the excitement.

Kome brings home a lost kitten for Nakarai-san and Taku to take care of. It was supposed to be a temporary thing, but Nakarai-san decides to keep the stray.

Despite looking like a weak fluff ball, the kitten soon threatens Kome.

Why? GET! your copy of Kome si Belang 1 to find out.

English School Wars 1 of 2 by Matsumoto Tomo

Before her family moves to New York, Arisugawa Kiko has to master English and is thus forced to take English conversation classes to improve her fluency, or lack thereof. One of the almost xenophobic Kiko's teachers is Ish G Kilroy, a young instructor who has issues with Japanese high school girls.

Could Ish's joshikousei “dislike” possibly stem from his and Kiko's earlier squabble over the last can of mackerel in a 100 yen shop?

Whatever the reason, Kiko can't understand why the Yuuu aaa miiin (You are mean) Ish proves so popular with the other students.

To answer Kiko in two words: smexy megane.

Fave line comes from Practice 3: Don't wander around! Stay beside me! –Ish to Kiko

Elex also publishes Matsumoto Tomo-sensei's Beauty Honey (latest volume 2 of 3). The manga-ka's Beauty is the Beast series ended its Indonesian run June 2009.

HanaLaLa 53/2010: Vampire Knight ♡

Vampire Knight 31st Night: The Path to the Answer (which you'll only reach in volume 7 if you exclusively follow the tankou releases) sees Yuki's class gaining a transferee in the person of Kiriyu Ichiru, none other than Zero's vengeful twin. Why did Zero allow Ichiru's enrollment, when chances are, his younger brother remains on the revenge path? Not to mention that Ichiru's entry into Cross Academy was orchestrated by the Vampire Senate.

Meanwhile, Takuma discovers someone planning to depose Kaname has possessed Shiki.

Other highlights

Another double dose of Nakajo Hisaya's Sugar Princess (chapters 15 and 16) and Higuchi Tachibana's Alice Academy (Story 82-83), as well as a 49-paged Chapter 7 of Midorikawa Yuki's Natsume Yujincho all go someways toward mitigating the two-month HanaLaLa vacuum created by approval problems with the Japanese publisher. (Don't ask me which series was responsible for the logjam; just choose randomly from the above-mentioned or from the Hakusensha shoujo manga below.)
