Meanwhile, in the last Pure Love Kamikaze Captain, Matsuru, not wanting to lose Chiemi's friendship, tries to bury his feelings where Chiemi can't see them. Hirata, however, realizes Matsuru's yearnings and dares Matsuru to compete with him for the love of Chiemi.

So now that Pure Love Kamikaze Captain is finished, does it mean we can soon look forward to the sequel Junai Tokkou Taichou! Honki?

New m&c! titles

Tony Wong's Long Hu Men/Oriental Heroes manhua hurtles to the next stage of martial arts action with Long Hu Men - Next Level, but doesn't ditch the bombastic subtitling (the first in the series is subtitled Tewasnya Dewa Iblis Awan Api!/The Death of the Fire Cloud Demon God) nor the artwork I wouldn't be caught carrying. (No offense meant to LHM fans.)

Shiharu continues to busy herself taking care of angelic twins Akane-chan and Aoi-kun; the two-handfuls in return maul Shiharu like family. How does adoptive dad Seiji behave toward our Ganbariya-san? (We hope he considers promoting her to Mama, of course, imagining Ono Daisuke—who voiced “Sei-tan” in the Love So Life drama CD—doing the proposing.)

Second runner-up Cyboy, also a Hana to Yume shoujo manga, wraps with Kujo's hard-won transformation threatened by transfer student Toda. Toda promises to keep Kujo's geeky (and how!) past a secret if Kujo agrees to become her boyfriend. (You already know from volume 1 that Our Cyboy worships another girl.)

I really like the scent of freshly-baked bread. My dream is to work in a bakery. Imagine my happiness when Saint Molly Bakery hires me!

But apparently, bakery work is hard! My tiredness disappears though when I see Natsu, the handsome owner of Saint Molly.

Could this be love?

Nagareboshi Manga (via Baka-Updates Manga's Kimi to Koi ni Ochiru Mahou de entry) provides the speaker's name: Ousawa Miko. Apparently, the 16-year-old Miko not only likes sniffing bread, she loves when they come in kawaii shapes (thus explaining the Character That Loves Cute Things tag). The same synop reveals that the person who employs our Clumsy Heroine is her age and lives next door to her!

m&c! has published quite a few of Chiba Kozue-sensei's standalones: Secret of the 7th Lesson, Let's Meet at School Tonight, 24 Colors, Hug Me Kiss Me and Love Letter. She also created the three-volume music themed Hitoribocchi wa Samishikute. Her ongoing Sho-Comi serial is the childhood friends/love triangle-troped Blue.

Despite being proverbial polar opposites, Kokko and Aiko have been friends since childhood. Cranky Kokko finds it hard to make romance work, while capricious Aiko changes boyfriends like she changes clothes. Their BFF-ship is placed in jeopardy when Kokko falls for a guy she met on a train.

Love is War!

Aside from Rifle Girl synopsized above, this anthology also includes Rifle Boy and Welcome to the Ghost Village. Tweet friend dalina02-san gives this manga a 5 (out of 10), calling the story cute, which compensates for average art.

Other TAAMO-sensei standalones published by m&c!: A Girl's Melancholy, Love in Ofuro, I Still Love You and Moon Love's Secret. The asread sequel ran from January to March 2008 (also 13 episodes). asread went on to produce a third season, Minami-ke: Okaeri, which aired from January to March 2009, with the addition of Mizuki Nana as Minami Tōma to the cast.

The fourth adaptation, Minami-ke: Betsubara, was released as an OAD bundled with manga volume 6 (2009.06.23).
