Black Butler 5 and Metal Fight Beyblade Explosive Guidebook (Chuang Yi 21 June 2011 English manga)

Also, simplified Chinese manga: Defense Devil #8 and One Piece #62: Adventure on Fishman Island.

Chuang Yi 21 June 2011 manga releases

Kuroshitsuji © Toboso Yana/Square Enix [GFantasy]
Defense Devil © Youn InWan & Yang KyungIl/Shogakukan [Shonen Sunday]
One Piece © Oda Eiichiro/Shueisha [Weekly Shonen Jump]
Published in Singapore as Black Butler, Metal Fight Beyblade Explosive Guidebook - The Complete Collection, Defense Devil and One Piece by Chuang Yi

Sebastian and Agni's Great Curry Battle continues in Black Butler 5; Kucabara tries to prove Jupiter's parents' innocence in Defense Devil #8; and unhappy fishmen attack Luffy and crew as they approach Fishman Island in One Piece #62. [More on the latter pair below the release list]

As at publication, Chuang Yi's synopsis for Black Butler 5 (ISBN: 978-981-4341-13-4) still obviously refers to FullMetal Alchemist, as you can see from the excerpt below:

The eclipse is upon Amestris, and the rebels have made a horrifying discovery - they've inadvertently brought the Father of the Homonculi exactly what he wanted: five ideal candidates, each of whom has opened the Gate of Truth, to be used as a catalyst to activate the Runic Circle that encompasses all of Amestris...

Black Butler 5 collects chapters 20 through 23: That Butler, Idea; That Butler, Competition; That Butler, Pure Heart; and That Butler, Intermingling. [*NOT Chuang Yi's chapter titles; excerpted from Wikipedia]

Metal Fight Beyblade Explosive Guidebook (ISBN: 978-981-4341-03-5), meanwhile, has neither summary (not that it really needs, what with the self-explanatory title) nor credits.

Published in Indonesia by Elex Media

Idamaria opposes Father Selma's plan to accommodate Kucabara and Bichura at the church, but can't stop the priest from allowing the pair to stay. Why does Idamaria so loathe Kucabara? Is it because he's a demon?

The female exorcist will have to continue sucking it up, partnered as she is with Kucabara in training, Wiki explains in its Defense Devil volume 4 summary. And apparently, Idamaria cooperates long enough to produce dark matter and fuel Kucabara's powers.

Defense Devil 4 compiles Judgments 6 through 9: The Key to the Demon World (Parts 3-9), Legato, Night before Departure and Invitation. In conventional numbers, that translates to chapters 28 to 37. [*NOT Elex Media/Shonen Star chapter titles]

Meanwhile, you can find the latest Judgments in Shonen Star, Issue 10/2011 of which also streets on Wednesday. (More on the Indonesian Shonen Sunday below.)

Maya plays Puck in the Tsukikage- and Ikkakuju "Midsummer Night's Dream" joint production. Initially, the stage was to have been the Athena, but Athena's management refused to let the play run, forcing the actors to consider the park next door as their outdoor stage. At Hayami Masumi's suggestion, they decide to perform for charity in the hopes of attracting a bigger audience. Pull in enough viewers, and maybe, just maybe, they will be allowed to move to the Athena theater.

Fukuchi Tsubasa's ping-pong love comedy graduates from Shonen Star serial to tankou.

Before Marunouchi Gaku left his childhood thweetheart Tamano Kako for parts abroad, he promised her that they would date each other when he returned. But when Gaku finally comes home, Japan has already passed the Law of Takkoku, which stipulates that before you can confess your love to another, you must first win a table tennis match against that person.

The thing is, Kako is the number one table tennis athlete in all of Japan and Gaku has never even played ping-pong. What's more, Gaku wants to be the one to confess first.

Can Gaku win a duel against Kako who absolutely refuses to compromise and throw the match?

You already know Fukuchi Tsubasa-sensei, right? The Law of Ueki and The Law of Ueki Plus ring a bell?

Elex also introes another shounen manga, Magi, about a boy and his genie traveling companion, in the latest Shonen Star 10/2011. Magi (Takkoku!!!'s replacement?) is the creation of Ohtaka Shinobu, prolly better known for the seinen harem comedy, Sumomomo Momomo. Find Magi and the rest of the ShoStars huddling (waay) below.

DEFENSE DEVIL 2

Defense Devil © Youn In Wan & Yang Kyung Il/Shogakukan [Serialized in Shonen Sunday]
Published in Singapore by Chuang Yi

Talk about a pain in the neck: demon counsel Kucabara has to defend a walking nescient disaster of a client who waives the right to remain silent and incriminates himself, much to the glee of Reapers already calling dibs on the accused's Dark Matter in Defense Devil 2.

Meanwhile, more bad news: Teito loses The Eye of Mikhail to Ayanami's soldiers, despite collective Frau/Castor/Labrador attempts to prevent the very thing from happening. On the bright side (or as bright as his murky circumstances allow), Teito begins to regain memories beyond those of a battle slave designed to kill. Just in time as the clergy examinations that would grant freedom—and the chance to recover The Eye—starts in 07-GHOST 4.

A word about TSUBASA Reservoir Chronicle 28 of 28...

When I checked two weeks ago, the English conclusion of CLAMP's TSUBASA had been pegged as a Coming soon, along with Black Lagoon 8, earlier reported shipping on 17 August. Black Lagoon 8 remains an upcoming; however, CY's Available Issues for TSUBASA Reservoir Chronicle now sez TSUBASA 28 Release[d] on 2010-07-06.

Can anyone independently confirm? Meanwhile, I will insert it into the 6 July list. I know, I know, it's a done deal, but I still can't let Syaoran × Sakura bid bye-bye (Wail!) just like that. Not after these seven-plus years. Thanks muchness.

Now back to our regularly-skedded programming.

Upcoming: Defense Devil, Global Garden, You Are So Cool, Want You manga and manhwa (Elex September 2010 advisory)

Updated with the 29 September manga

DEFENSE DEVIL 1

Defense Devil
© Youn InWan & Yang KyungIl
Shogakukan (Shonen Sunday)
Published in Indonesia
by Elex Media

Elex advises 72 manga and manhwa tentatives for September, eight of which are premieres and at least four, finales, and makes good on 24 for a 33% fulfillment rate.

Expected to debut per the latest Komikologi: Bakeru-kun by Fujiko F. Fujio; Defense Devil by Youn InWan & Yang KyungIl (ongoing serialization in Shonen Star); Global Garden by Hiwatari Saki (Please Save My Earth manga-ka); MIXIM 11 (the Anzai Nobuyuki shounen adventure “famed” for its Unpopular Protagonist); Thorny Rules (Ibara no Okite) by Yukimura Yuni (Serial Cantik standalone); Topeng Kaca Deluxe by Miuchi Suzue (Glass no Kamen bunko); Tsuba Kiyo - 28K4 (Saikyou Seitokai Tsubakiyo) by Hara Asumi (concluded serialization in NakaGress!); and soonjung manhwa Want you by Hwang MiRee; and You Are So Cool by Lee YoungHee.

As there are only 3 × September weekly releases (no 8th and 15th deliveries because of the Idul Fitri holidays), I don't expect these premieres—nor even a fraction of the earlier-advised new titles such as A Little More to Edo, Traumeister or Hello Master—to ship this month. But then again, I've been known to get things wrong.

Edit: Got it (partially) wrong; Global Garden 1, Hello Master 1 and Libero Revolution!! 13 of 13 (below) street 22 September.

Meanwhile, this early, Elex has already banked one finale: Iori Tabasa's Kunai Legend (volume 4), albeit this being an August fallout like Amagi Seimaru- & Sato Fumiya's Kindaichi Special Case: The Phantom Of The Opera 3rd Murder (volume 2) and Tanaka Motoyuki's Libero Revolution!! (volume 13). The September-proper series awaiting curtains is actually Uno Hiroshi's Kaiser Z (volume 16). And despite having been penciled in for September, Natsume Yoshinori's Kurozakuro (volume 7 of 7) and Hwang MiRee's New Sexy Simpleton (volume 9 of 9) series wraps remain contingent on their predecessors' delays nashi deliveries, and as such, highly unlikely to reach stores this month.

Also, teh usual mangazines: Shonen Magz, Shonen Star (2x), Nakayoshi and HanaLaLa.

For blurbs, wait for the weekly releases; the full Elex list, however, is behind the fake cut.

Elex September 2010 manga and manhwa (ex Komikologi)
